Operatory Observer is designed specifically for use in the operatory. It has 4 columns. The user is able to decide which 4 operatories they want to see.
4 hours of time is shown at all times. The screen refreshes automatically to capture changes in appointment data; specifically, patient waiting status. Data will “scroll” along showing 2 hours in the past and 2 hours in the future. There will be a mouse over to show the details (name, note, start time, end time). This is especially beneficial if the name has “scrolled” out of view and all you can see is the tail end of the appointment. It allows providers to quickly enter procedures chair side, submit the claim for insurance and book the recall appointment.
The user enters all the procedure codes completed and can discuss it with the patient chair side. They then submit the claim the same way as they would do from Payments and Procedures. Business process then dictates that the hygienist will walk the paper chart (if the office keeps one) and the patient to the front to pay. Any work not completed by the hygienist will be completed by the front desk staff using either this screen or the Payments & Procedures screen, but since payment needs to be accepted, it only makes sense that the front desk would use the Payments and Procedures screen.
